Ready

Cars are going through the biggest changes since they were invented with the new in-car technology and electric vehicles.

Set

Electric vehicles, sometimes referred to as EVs, can feel a little different to drive and there are a few behaviours which drivers may need to adjust to such as charging.

In this section we aim to provide the information required to help you with the switch from petrol or diesel to electric, or maybe hybrid which uses both petrol and an electric motor to power the vehicle.

What is the range on electric cars?

Calculating the actual range you may achieve with an electric vehicle can be a little more difficult. Factors such as battery size, max length.

Charging

Whilst mild hybrid vehicles charge themselves, PHEVs and BEVs can only be charged by plugging into a charger. Charging can take place at home or when away.

Charge times

When plugging in, battery capacity, power output, temperature and other factors can make a difference to charging times.

Running costs

Electricity tariffs, where you charge and driving habits can influence how much it costs to charge and the range. Use our tools to find out what it could look like for you.

Lithium-ion batteries, of the type used in most electric vehicles (including CUPRA electric vehicles) have a restricted lifespan. Battery capacity will reduce over time, with use and charging. Reduction in battery capacity will affect the performance of the vehicle, including the range achievable, and may impact resale value. New car performance figures (including battery capacity and range) may be provided for the purposes of comparison between vehicles. You should not rely on new car performance figures (including battery capacity and range), in relation to used vehicles with older batteries, as they will not reflect used vehicle performance in the real world. Please note that some images and specifications may not reflect UK specification or may only be available as an option.

Figures shown are for comparability purposes; only compare fuel consumption, CO2 figures and range with other vehicles tested to the same technical procedures.  Figures may not reflect real life driving results.
