Milton Keynes, 20 January 2023 – CUPRA has picked up two awards at this year’s What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2023.
The What Car? Awards were held on Thursday 19th January at Grosvenor House, Park Lane London and celebrated the best new cars on the market.
After winning last year’s What Car? “Small Electric Car of the Year Award 2022”, the fully-electric Born was named “Best to drive” in the small electric car category for 2023. Commenting on the win, What Car? said: “With a respectable range, strong performance and smart interior, the Born remains one of our favourite small electric cars”.
CUPRA Born is the brand’s first 100% electric model, and the start of CUPRA’s journey to becoming a fully electric brand by the end of the decade.
Described in its What Car? review as “a visual feast of chiselled lines, muscular haunches and dramatic swoops” the Formentor collected What Car?’s “Best Coupé SUV” for a second year running.
Alongside high praise for the car’s visual presence, the Formentor was praised for its performance and handling. What Car? said: “It has a stylish design, but it also strikes a good balance between sportiness and practicality. It offers space for five adults in its smart-looking interior, plus a big boot, while also being fun to drive”.
Both the Born and Formentor were commended for including a high level of equipment and technology as standard. Features such as the 12” Navigation system with smartphone mirroring, Adaptive Cruise control, LED headlights, Lane Assist and Dynamic road sign display all contribute to enhancing the comfort, convenience and safety of both models. Both the Born and Formentor also benefit from a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
